Forrest Haus is located close to the wonderful Forrest Brewery, the charming Forrest General store, the renowned mountain bike trails and the incredible Lake Elizabeth (and it’s platypi). It’s also only a hop, skip and a jump to fantastic adventures in the surrounds, which we can share with you in advance of your stay.

The home is a retreat offering peace and serenity with a balance of seclusion offering you a place to relax and unwind or explore the Otways, The Great Ocean Road and surrounding towns.

Three bedrooms, outdoor bath, indoor and outdoor spaces to connect & create memories

From three beautiful bedrooms sleeping 7 guests, Forrest Haus aims to deliver everything you’ll need for a great stay.

The master bedroom is a place to unwind, with a comfy king bed and a huge ensuite bathroom with separate shower and deep bath, where you can select from the bath menu bath to soothe those tired muscles.

In the other two spacious bedrooms, you find a king-sized bed in one and bunk beds with a queen bed on the bottom and a king size single on the top in the other, which it not just for kids, it’s a perfect size for adults. A beautiful bathroom is nestled in close proximity to both.

All of the bedrooms have built-in robes and storage so you can unpack and feel at home.

If beautiful meals are on the cards, there’s a spacious dining room featuring a six-seater Jack Auld designed table and chairs next to the fully equipped kitchen.

The luxurious and light-drenched lounge features a wood fire, designer lighting from David Trubridge and Slide Studio, and a large comfy couch to binge your favourite show on Netflix or catch a game on Kayo.

Outside relax in a deep bath amongst the fern garden and watch the birds fly over while you soak or toast marshmallows on the fire pit under the stars.

Maits Rest rainforest walk, just under an hour from Forrest Haus Retreat and easily combined with day trip to Apollo Bay. A beautiful 800m walk amongst the rainforest, with towering Mountain Ash, heritage trees, funky mushrooms and stunning ferns.

Inspired by barn chalets and sustainable eco retreats we lovingly built what is now Forrest Haus Retreat. Our home away from home. This time last year we were standing back with sore muscles after landscaping and planting over 300 plants. Today we can sit amongst the native trees and plants indigenous to the area with a wine in hand, watching and listening to wildlife. Celebrated the first day of winter with a day trip to visit Julian at @apostlewheycheese for our grazing board, @gorgechocolates for afternoon tea, Gibson steps, Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. Round trip from Forrest in 4.5 hours with lots of stops in between, such an easy day trip, fun and stunning 🤩

The Otways isn’t just rainforest and seascapes! The Otway Ranges Coastal Cretaceous site extends from Lorne to Moonlight Head. Mostly the locations were found by luck with someone spotting a bone sticking out of a rock on their walk. It was the place to come for social assistance until Centrelink was formed and subsequently both buildings fell into disrepair.
